Recognizes and Celebrates Student Achievements

I firmly believe that every achievement matters, whether it’s academic, sports-related, or a personal milestone, and that recognizing these accomplishments boosts morale, strengthens team spirit, and motivates students to aim higher. In my team, success is not limited to research papers or technical milestones; it also includes personal growth, extracurricular achievements, and contributions to the academic community. I make it a priority to acknowledge and celebrate the successes of my students, big or small. Whenever a student achieves something noteworthy, I personally take time to congratulate them, be it through an encouraging email, a WhatsApp message, a social media post, or a team gathering. This practice builds confidence and reinforces a positive, supportive culture within the group.

Some memorable examples from our team include:

  • Durgesh, who captained and led the Department of Materials Engineering team to victory in the Inter-Departmental Cricket Championship (IDCC-2025).
  • Sangeetha, whose beautiful artwork featured as the front cover image on an ACS Langmuir paper.
  • Balpartap, who was awarded the prestigious Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF).
  • Kusuma, who successfully secured the Women Scientist-A (WISE-KIRAN PDF) fellowship through a project she proposed and developed with me.
  • Nilesh, who earned the National Postdoctoral Fellowship (NPDF) selection.
  • Shubha, who participated in and achieved a world record in dance performance.
  • Dikshant, Shambhavi, and Balpartap, who won awards for best poster and presentation at international conferences.

I’ve personally observed that students often find the strength to push their limits when they feel acknowledged, supported, and celebrated, especially during their struggling times and after their successes. A kind word of encouragement from a mentor, supervisor, or colleague can make all the difference. That’s why in our team, we make sure to enjoy every milestone, whether it’s a paper acceptance, a sports win, a fellowship, or a personal accomplishment because every achievement deserves to be cherished.
