One-Day International Conference

International Online Conference: Advanced Characterization Techniques (ACT-2023)

Aug 18, 2023, Department of Materials Engineering, IISc Bengaluru

Fostering Global Knowledge Exchange Through ACT-2023: On 18th August 2023, our research group successfully organized a One-Day International Online Conference, Advanced Characterization Techniques (ACT-2023) under the Department of Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. This conference was conceptualized to provide a free, accessible academic platform for students, early-career researchers, and professionals to interact directly with globally renowned experts working in advanced characterization techniques. Within just three days of launching, we received an overwhelming response with over 830 official registrations, eventually closing the registration at 1000 participants. The conference featured eight distinguished invited speakers from leading institutions such as the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, University of Oxford, Université Grenoble Alpes, University of Michigan, IISER Pune, and C-MET Pune, covering cutting-edge topics including ultrafast vibrational action spectroscopy, photothermal deflection and Raman spectroscopy, temperature-dependent photoluminescence, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, exciton dynamics, and charge extraction techniques. Additionally, the event was graced by Prof. Shivprasad Patil (IISER Pune) and Prof. Richard Catlow (FRS, University College London, UK) as keynote speakers. This conference was completely free of charge and attracted active participation from IISc, IITs, IISERs, DRDO labs, CSIR labs, state universities, private universities, rural area colleges, national research centers, and industries. The event not only facilitated high-level academic discussions but also motivated young researchers to explore advanced characterization tools and foster interdisciplinary collaborations. ACT-2023 stands as a testament to our group’s commitment to creating impactful, knowledge-sharing platforms for the research community.
